Add printers remotely using \\computername => add printers permission error.
Hi, We are trying to add printers remotely to computers running W7 in the same way we did with XP. We go to \\computername => hit view external printers => hit add printers & then we get an error message saying we don't have permission. I am domainadminstrator so no issues there. Also i've enabled printer sharing on the destination computer but no dice. Does anyone have a clue on how to resolve this issue? Grtz.Don't forget about Alt+Esc!

Hi Linda, Thx for your reply but nothing seems to help. As said in the w7 -view remote printers treath. If you share a printer and then disable it again it works fine until you reboot. So if anyone knows what actually happens when you share a printer plz tell :).Don't forget about Alt+Esc!

Well i've checked the security settings & everyone is listed. I have tried giving them all permissions but that doens't help. You can find a screenshot of the error message here: http://cid-83e0d14149e47abe.photos.live.com/self.aspx/Shared/printer.JPG It's dutch meaning; you do not have the correct permissions to do this. It happens when i hit the "Een printer toevoegen" (add printer).Don't forget about Alt+Esc!

Hi Linda, Thx for your interest. Well the firewall was disabled. I've tried using procmon to see if anything blocks me but nothing (was already trying to find out with procmon what happens when you share a printer ;) ). I've done a clean install with nothing installed no virusscan no nothing but still... nothing. The only thing i can think of is maybe a group policy as someone said in the thread you refered to. I'll do some testing on that and get back.Don't forget about Alt+Esc!
